[ She better run, he thinks. If she won't love him, she better fear him instead. There's no way he's going to let her escape completely, though.
Downstairs, she finds a little sitting room to one side and a dining room to the other. Outside the windows shows that it's definitely a house: they look out to an overgrown, fenced in lawn. ]
[ His mind is racing too much for him to realise she's stopped running. He dashes down the stairs casting his own spell, eager to find her so he can aim it a little better-
But he knows how to get out and she doesn't. Even if he can't find her, he has a chance to catch her just by setting the entire place on fire. As he reaches the bottom of the stairs, he yells. ]
[She yells automatically when she sees the flames. So he's going to burn the whole place down, even if he's still in it?! Rita takes off again, running from the spell and through the sitting room to try and find the exit.]
[ He chases after the sound of her voices, barely avoiding being burned himself. The flames take in the furniture of the rooms quickly, the carpet itself carrying the flames easily. At least he's wearing boots.
There's a little kitchen area that connects the two downstairs rooms with a hallway. There are two doors along the hallway and one the end of it. ]
[She hisses and dashes along, trying to outrun the flames shooting through the furnishings. He's going to kill them both at this rate. The hallway--which way?! She runs for the doorway at the end.]
Stop running, Rita! [ Mockingly: ] I thought you were never going to abandon me!
[ All the doors look the same, giving no hint which one would be the one leading outside. Tyr tries not to care about how his pants and shirt are burning and about to catch flame just like everything else in the room. He just has to catch Rita, even if he's not caught up with her yet. ]
[She can't contain all the fury she feels, and it comes out obviously in her voice. This is all wrong; she hates it. She covers her face with her sleeve to try and avoid choking on the smoke as she grabs at the handle of the door at the end of the hallway.]
[ Tyr doesn't even care about the smoke, even if it is hard to breathe and his voice comes out strained. They can die together--they should die together--and there's no reason to fight that.
Her voice sounds so bitter to him... And that's a little more exciting than it should be. It's like she knows she's going to die.
The door opens easily, showing...a screen door. And then outside to the overgrown yard with a little pathway leading to an open fence door. She should make for it before Tyr tackles her. ]
[There's no way she's just going to stand there! So she throws the screen door open and dashes out into the yard, coughing and breathing in the fresher air--though she doesn't stop running. She needs to start casting again, too.]
[ He wishes she'd just stop running so he can catch her. He's usually faster than her and has more stamina, but he got too careless this time. Taking in the fresh air outside is a small relief when there are burns along his skin and his clothes are seared. Still, he gasps in the fresh air.
She's just a few feet ahead of him... He almost trips on the stones as he tries to catch up with her. ]
[Hearing his gasps behind her pushes her to run faster. She doesn't even care right now if her clothes are smouldering or anything like that; she just has to keep running until she can finish her spell, or he might kill her--no, she corrects herself. He will kill her if he gets the chance.]
[ He will. And he'll drag her back to the burning house so they can die there together. It'd be romantic. He hates how she's going so much faster than him, and more so he hates that he can't keep up.
And he hates that he trips and slides into the gravel instead of catching her. ]
[Romance sucks. She hears the scrape and crunch of the gravel and slows, spinning around to see him. Good. It's time for him to take a nap--she casts the sleeping spell towards him, whipping up a magic wind.]
[ For once he actually wishes Soul Eater wasn't sealed. It would love to take Rita's live, he's sure, and then her soul could always be with him. But now, he just glares up at her like he's challenging her to cast it and do her worst.
It disappears quickly as the wind washes over him, and it's obvious that it has more of an effect than usual: He can't even slow himself down when his face is planted in the gravel again. ]
[Rita finally feels some relief at seeing him collapse, but not much. It doesn't do anything to take away the pain--physical and emotional.
She stands there for only a few seconds, though. This is still Tyr's body--she can't let it die; he needs it when the curse is over and he's himself again--so she moves over to drag it away from the burning house.]
[And that neither of them died, at least...But it was still a horrible curse. Rita never wants to have to see Tyr being like that again, though she knows it wasn't him.
Eventually--after getting him back to the house, likely with some help--she'll take some medicine and go ahead and pass out with him, to get away from the exhaustion and pain.]
[ Tyr hopes it wasn't him. If she died, he wouldn't have forgave himself either way. His sleep is still and dreamless, and it's unlikely he'd wake up until morning with everything hurting. The physical pain isn't that bad for him - he's definitely had worse - but the emotional pain...
If she was actually with him when he woke up, the first thing he'd do is heal her. He doesn't think it would be right to do anything else. ]
[Rita couldn't believe that the real Tyr would ever treat her that way. She's certain that's not who he is. Even then...it still hurt.
Maybe it's because of the healing, but she comes awake and cracks her eyes open. They're in Tyr's bedroom, since his apartment was closer, and she has a momentary stab of alarm before remembering that he should be back to normal by now.]
[ He'd deny that he'd ever treat her that way even under a curse, though the City has been wearing away at his ability to do that.
If he hadn't finished casting the spell when she woke up, her reaction would have been enough to make him stop. He didn't think she'd wake up from that alone... Since this is his bed in his apartment, he can't exactly up and leave even if he thought she wanted him to.
For now, he just stays curled up with his arms tucked to his chest. Though he opens his mouth to say something, he can't think of the words. Asking why she's with him wouldn't be a good choice, he thinks. ]
[Maybe he could use the space; maybe she could too and she should go home. But she doesn't want to. She remembers last time, how torn up he must have been, and lets her expression soften as she looks at him.]
You're back. [It's simple, and her voice is quiet, but there's a bit of a sense of relief in knowing that it must be over now.]
[ He really wants to reach out and hold her hand, but he refuses just to prove to himself that he can. Even if she isn't scared of him and she seems more relaxed now...
It'd be cruel to just stay silent regardless of whether he has anything to say or not, so he nods. ] Are you okay?
[ He can cast a few more times if she's not. Even if he knows that's really not going to fix anything. ]
[She nods, though rather than say she's okay--which she isn't, entirely-] Better. Thanks.
[Her expression is morose and though she doesn't ask if he's all right, she's definitely worried about him. She moves a little closer, taking the initiative and reaching for his hand.]
[ Right now, Tyr isn't one to deny her requests. He holds out his hand for her to take, his expression finally softening a little. She's better, and that's all that matters to him now. ]
Thanks for everything... You're really amazing, Rita...
