[ When he left with Mithos, Genis knew it was just a matter of time before he saw everyone again. And he knew when that happened, they probably couldn't be on the same side anymore. No, they definitely couldn't. There was no way Lloyd or anyone else would be okay with Mithos's plan, but when it came down to it, his plan was just a little better, a little more realistic...

...It was hard, though. They were all his friends. Mithos, Lloyd, Colette, Raine... He really didn't want to fight or see anything bad happen to any of them.

But that was exactly what was going to happen. He just stood at the sidelines as Colette was brought up to Welgaia and put into the same holding cell that they were held in before. It was just a matter of time until the preparations were complete and she'd be taken away again.

Before that happened, he wanted to see her. And say goodbye to her.

After all, when this was all over, she'd be gone. He remembered what it was like when Colette first chose to sacrifice her life at the Tower of Salvation, how he thought there was no other way...

It was like that now, too. It was just that instead of saving Sylvarant, Colette was going to save Martel...and that wasn't Colette's choice. He didn't know if she'd ever choose this.

After the angels left, Genis carefully made his way to the holding cell. Even though he knew that, by this point, his being there wouldn't arouse any suspicion, he couldn't help but feel anxious. He kept a few feet between, shifting from one foot to the other when he stopped. ]

Hey, Colette?

[Of course Colette understands that Genis was close to Mithos. Is close to him. It's hard to not notice the joy he had in finding another half elf to share his experiences with besides Raine, his older sister. It's no great surprise that the more impressionable, realist takes on board the other's ideals and goals.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt, to see him on the other side of the prison. Knowing if her friends arrive to try rescue her and stop this, they'd be fighting Genis as well. It's why she isn't as relieved as she might have been otherwise, if he showed up with Lloyd and the rest as a group. But she does shift, does step forward to meet him as far as she can, holding to the bars.]

Are you all right, Genis?

[Of course, only Colette would ask that and worry about her friend even now. But the way he keeps his distance and shifts like that, she is perceptive enough.]

I know. But...Are you sure this is what you want, Genis?

[She doesn't mean to make him question or doubt. But this is something pretty major. If this is his choice and he is really sure he knows what he's doing, what he expects from this, that's fine. But if not, then he's just tangled up in his because he doesn't want to lose that friendship and bond with Mithos.

Colette may have initially been resigned to the idea of sacrificing herself, but Lloyd has changed that. Helped her to see that everyone's life is important, including her own. It might still be her body, but as Martel's vassal it wouldn't really be Colette. Not anymore, if that comes to pass. But there is rarely a way to work things out to please everyone.]
